Computerized Tomography (CT) sometimes called a CAT scan, uses special x-ray equipment to obtain images from different angles around the body, and then uses computer processing to show a cross-section of the body, including bones and organs.

The CT scan does not replace plain X-rays, but gives additional information with greater detail.
